What Does Coffee Have to Do With Leather?
Most coffee on shelves is roasted dark enough to mute inconsistencies, quick enough to hit volume, and processed in a way that smooths everything into one indistinguishable note.
We approach coffee the way we craft leather goods in Laramie: with patience, precision, and a respect for natural character.
Instead of roasting everything into the same dark note, we preserve what makes each coffee interesting, so you get clarity, natural sweetness, and real notes you can actually taste.
If you’d never choose a sanded-down hide over true full-grain, why drink coffee roasted to hide what makes it interesting?

Frequently asked questions
About Range Coffee
Most brands that sell coffee don't roast it. They find a roaster, put their name on the bag, and call it theirs. We roast ours — in-house, in Laramie, Wyoming, in the same building where we cut leather and build bags. That's not common, and it matters more than most people realize.
Why We Roast In-House
When a company roasts its own coffee, it controls everything that determines quality: the green bean selection, the roast profile, the timing, the freshness window. There's no middleman holding inventory for weeks before it ships. When you order Range coffee, you're getting coffee roasted in our facility, by our people, on our schedule — not something that's been sitting in a warehouse since last month.
Fresh roasted coffee tastes different from shelf coffee in a way that's immediately obvious once you've experienced it. The aromatics are brighter. The flavors are more distinct. The cup is more alive. This is what in-house small-batch roasting actually delivers, and it's why we decided to roast ourselves rather than outsource it.
The Blends
Our four core house blends are developed and roasted in-house, each dialed for a distinct experience across the roast spectrum.
The Campfire Blend is our darkest roast — bold and rich, built around dark chocolate notes that deepen into molasses sweetness with a remarkably smooth finish. It's the coffee that earns its name: made for the morning that starts before the sun comes up.
The Picnic Blend is a medium roast with layers of milk chocolate, buttery caramel, and nutty praline — flavors that work together rather than compete. Approachable, balanced, and easy to drink all day.
The Trailhead Blend is a light-to-medium roast with vibrant berry notes, delicate floral aromas, and a punchy finish that wakes up your palate. It's the most adventurous of the four — bright, expressive, and built for people who want a cup with something to say.
The Riverside Blend is our lightest roast — zesty citrus notes, clean raw sugar sweetness, and juicy stonefruit undertones that create a bright, lively cup. For people who want their coffee to feel like a fruit-forward sunrise rather than a dark room.
We also carry single-origin coffees from Colombia, Ethiopia, and Guatemala on a rotating basis — available while in season and while supplies last. Single origins change as new harvest lots come in, so check the collection page for current offerings.
We carry both 12 oz bags for everyday home use and 5 lb bags for households that go through coffee quickly, offices, or anyone who wants to stock up without running out mid-week.
Whole Bean or Ground — Your Choice
We offer every coffee in whole bean or pre-ground. Whole bean is always the better call if you have a grinder — coffee begins losing its peak flavor within days of being ground, while whole beans stay at their best considerably longer. That said, pre-ground is convenient, and if it means you're drinking freshly roasted small-batch coffee instead of whatever's on the grocery store shelf, it's still a significant upgrade. We grind to a standard drip grind unless otherwise noted.
A Word on Why a Leather Company Roasts Coffee
We get this question. The short answer is that Range Leather is a brand built around a way of living — working with your hands, buying things made well and meant to last, supporting small American businesses, slowing down enough to appreciate what you have. Coffee fits that exactly. A good cup of coffee in the morning is the same philosophy as a good leather bag: it costs a little more than the generic alternative, it's made with more care, and it's noticeably better every time you use it.
The people who buy our bags, hats, and wallets are the same people who want a coffee worth drinking. So we roast it.
Range Coffee as a Gift
Our coffee ships well, arrives in clean packaging, and pairs naturally with our other products — a Range bag, a leather wallet, a hat. For people who want to give a gift that feels cohesive and intentional rather than random, coffee plus leather is a combination that works. It's the kind of gift that says something about the person giving it.
We offer both 12 oz bags for a lighter gift and 5 lb bags for someone who genuinely drinks a lot of coffee. The Forever Guarantee covers our leather goods; the freshness of the roast covers the coffee.
Wyoming-Roasted, Shipped Anywhere
We ship our coffee across the United States. Whether you're in Wyoming and want to support a local small business, or you're across the country and want something roasted with more care than what's available locally, we've got you. Small-batch, in-house roasted coffee from Laramie, Wyoming — shipped to your door.
Does Range Leather roast its own coffee?
Yes — Range Coffee is roasted in-house in Laramie, Wyoming. We don't white-label coffee from another roaster. Our coffee is roasted in our own facility by our own team, which means we control the roast profile, the freshness, and the quality from green bean to bag. This is uncommon for lifestyle brands that sell coffee, and it's the reason our coffee tastes like it was made with intention rather than sourced as an afterthought.
What coffee blends does Range Coffee Roasters offer?
We roast four core house blends in Laramie, Wyoming — each developed for a different kind of drinker and a different moment in the day:
Campfire Blend (Dark Roast) — Rich dark chocolate notes that deepen into molasses sweetness, delivered with a smooth finish. Our boldest, darkest roast. Best for people who want their coffee to mean business.
Picnic Blend (Medium Roast) — Milk chocolate, buttery caramel, and nutty praline in layers. Balanced, approachable, and consistently satisfying — the easiest everyday choice for most drinkers.
Trailhead Blend (Light-Medium Roast) — Vibrant berry notes, delicate floral aromas, and a punchy finish. The brightest and most complex of our blends, built for people who want a cup with personality.
Riverside Blend (Light Roast) — Zesty citrus, raw sugar sweetness, and juicy stonefruit undertones. Our lightest, most fruit-forward roast — clean, lively, and refreshing.
We also carry rotating single-origin coffees from Colombia, Ethiopia, and Guatemala. Single origins are available while supplies last and change with harvest seasons — check the collection page for what's currently in stock.
What roast levels does Range Coffee offer?
Our current lineup spans from dark to light: the Campfire Blend is a dark roast, the Picnic Blend is medium, the Trailhead Blend is light-to-medium, and the Riverside Blend is a light roast. In general terms: dark roasts are bold, low-acidity, with roast-forward flavors like chocolate and molasses. Light roasts are brighter, more acidic, fruitier, and preserve more of the bean's original character. Medium roasts are the most versatile middle ground. If you're not sure where to start, the Picnic Blend (medium) is the easiest entry point. If you know you want bold, start with Campfire. If you want something bright and fruit-forward, go Riverside or Trailhead.
What is the difference between a blend and a single-origin coffee?
A blend is developed from beans sourced across multiple origins, combined to achieve a specific, consistent flavor profile — the same cup every time you buy it. Our four core blends (Campfire, Picnic, Trailhead, Riverside) are all house blends roasted to a repeatable profile in our Laramie roastery. A single-origin coffee comes from one specific country, region, farm, or cooperative, and its flavor is a direct expression of that place. Our rotating single origins from Colombia, Ethiopia, and Guatemala each taste distinct from one another and from our blends — Ethiopian naturals tend to be fruit-forward and wine-like; Colombian coffees are often balanced with caramel sweetness; Guatemalan coffees tend toward chocolate and fuller body. Blends are for reliability and everyday drinking. Single origins are for exploration and for people who want to taste where their coffee came from.
Why does freshly roasted small-batch coffee taste better than grocery store coffee?
Coffee peaks in flavor within a few weeks of being roasted and declines significantly after that. Most grocery store coffee was roasted weeks or months before it reaches the shelf, and may sit there for additional months before you buy it. Small-batch, in-house roasting like we do means the coffee you receive was roasted recently, in a small quantity, with more attention to the roast than a large commercial operation can provide. The result is noticeably brighter aromatics, more distinct flavor, and a cup that tastes like coffee is supposed to taste when it's fresh.
Should I buy whole bean or pre-ground coffee?
Whole bean if you have a grinder — full stop. Ground coffee begins losing volatile aromatics almost immediately after grinding, while whole beans stay at their best for considerably longer after roasting. If you grind just before brewing, you're getting the best version of the coffee. That said, pre-ground is a real convenience and still miles ahead of most grocery store options when the underlying coffee is freshly roasted small-batch. We offer both, and we grind to a standard drip grind for the pre-ground option.
What sizes does Range Coffee come in?
We offer our coffees in 12 oz bags and 5 lb bags. The 12 oz bag is the standard size for home use — right for households going through a bag every week or two. The 5 lb bag is for serious coffee drinkers, households with multiple people brewing daily, small offices, or anyone who wants to stock up on a coffee they like without reordering constantly. If you're buying to try something new, start with 12 oz. If you've found your go-to, the 5 lb is the better value.
Is Range Coffee a good gift?
Yes, and it pairs particularly well with our leather goods. A 12 oz bag of Range coffee alongside a leather wallet, belt bag, or a hat is a cohesive, considered gift — the kind that feels like it was put together by someone who pays attention, rather than grabbed at the last minute. Coffee is also one of the few gifts that gets used immediately and appreciated right away. We ship everything together, and the packaging holds up well as a gift presentation.
Where is Range Coffee roasted?
In Laramie, Wyoming — in our shop, by our team. We roast in-house rather than outsourcing to a third-party roaster. This lets us control quality directly and keep batches small, which means fresher coffee. Laramie is where we make our leather goods, and it's where we roast our coffee. It's a small operation run by people who care about what they're putting out.
Does Range ship coffee across the United States?
Yes. We ship Range Coffee to all 50 states. Orders are processed from our Laramie, Wyoming facility and ship via standard carriers. If you're local to Laramie, you can also visit our store in person. For bulk 5 lb orders, shipping is calculated at checkout based on destination.
